Transforming Lives Together

Never Giving Up Again

Never Giving Up Again

After his father’s murder, Deepak’s life was in grave danger. Because he was next on the list to be killed, his mother sent him into hiding far away at an orphanage called The Kristos Home. But this transition to an English speaking lifestyle, along with his struggle to trust complete strangers (with whom he couldn’t even communicate) brought great stress into Deepak’s life. It was two years before Deepak was able to believe that the people he’d been sent to were trustworthy.

The Kristos Home, using David C Cook's Life on Life curriciulum, taught Deepak about the love of Christ, and that love radically transformed his life. But as God often does, he spoke into Deepak’s life with a story he was able to understand. It was the “The Little Engine That Could”—a story of perseverance—that most impacted Deepak’s life. He recognized something of himself in the small railway engine that struggled yet persevered to pull the train up an almost insurmountable hill. And Deepak’s mind was made up; he would never again give up in life.

I lift up my eyes to the mountains— where does my help come from? My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth.

—Psalm 121:1-2

You, O Lord, will move heaven and earth for us. I pray that our hope would remain in you. May we never forget that all of our help comes from you.
